    blinddogs-subscribe@yahoogroups.com

To change your subscription to daily digest mode, send a blank message to: blinddogs-digest@yahoogroups.com

To change your subscription to individual emails, send a blank message to: blinddogs-normal@yahoogroups.com

  2. To make changes via the web site for the list on Yahoo just go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/blinddogs   Click on Delivery Options and follow directions
  3. Before accessing the Yahoo web site, allocated to the blinddogs list, you will need to register and also to log in. If you click on "Remember Me" you will not have to log in each time. You will also need to make sure your browser is set to allow "Cookies" This is the way the site recognizes you.
  4. If you want to post from an alternate email address you can do so now, but you need to tell the system you want to do so. Go to "Preferences" You should see an "Add email address" You can choose upto 5 email address to post from (not read) from the multiple accounts. What this means is you may not have all the privileges that your member address has. Since our archives messages are viewable to the public you will be able to read messages off the web site from any address.
  5. NOTE: If you go on vacation or can't check your mailbox very often, to avoid being suspended by egroups, you may want to set your mode of delivery on either WEB or digest
  6. When set on WEB go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/blinddogs/messages to read messages
  7. ANY questions dealing with changing your subscription, unsubscribing or dealing with the list functions themselves need to be sent to the admin address blinddogs-admin@yahoogroups.com NOT TO THE LIST ADDRESS Kerry or I will help you ASAP

Problems Accessing the Yahoo site

Do you have a Yahoo ID and Password?
If not, you need to register with Yahoo.  The easiest place to register is at http://groups.yahoo.com/ If you were on the list when it was with Egroups, you should see "egroups member" as a choice.  This area will register you and give you a Yahoo ID and it will also lead you through "linking" the list or other lists you were on with egroups.

If you have a Yahoo ID and Password and still having problems?
If you were on the list when it was egroups you need to "link" your Yahoo ID to the list or list(s) that you were on when it was egroups.

You can also go to http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/groups/groups-37.html It will walk you through the "Conversion Wizard" to link your accounts.

Now if you have a Yahoo ID and Password have converted your lists to yahoo and are still having problems?
Have you "Signed In" to the Yahoo site?  If not you can "Sign In" on the Yahoo page http://groups.yahoo.com/ or the Blinddog page http://groups.yahoo.com/group/blinddogs If you can check the box that says "Remeber My ID when on this computer..." and as long as you do not Sign Out, you should be able to access the site without "Signing In" everytime.

A couple extra tidbits which may or may not be confusing
Everyone can access the archive message area of the blinddogs site...that has always been open to the public.....however, your email address are safe from SPAMERS since email address  are altered on the web site... even to members who view it via the web. So if you go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/blinddogs you maybe able to access it, but if you haven't done one of the things listed above, the site may say you are not a member of this list and you will not have access to the areas that are member areas only.

If you are still having problems as always please direct any problems to Kerry and I  at blinddogs-admin@yahoogroups.com or our private addresses

What can and can not be posted to the list

  1. All Attachments are blocked from being sent to the list-this means the attachment if sent will be dumped off the message
  2. There is a special area the Files where you can post pictures/graphics. Once uploaded please advise the list they are there.
  3. Although our list is not a moderated list, the occasional off topic posting should be labeled either by OT or Off topic . There are certain postings that shouldn't be posted to the list however (chain letters, internet protests, postings dealing with commercial companies,Virus warnings etc...)
  4. Our list has always been a very friendly, courteous and respectful group--and it will stay that way. Negative, insulting, demeaning or any type of flaming of anyone , by anyone on the list will not be tolerated.
  5. Transport requests and/or home vists/checks for rescue help are not appropriate for the list. There are other lists setup for this purpose. If you need help being referred to one you can contact me at blinddogs-admin@yahoogroups.com
  6. Openly soliciting to sell any item for personal profit is and has never been allowed on the list. If you are approached by anyone in private email  and you "did not ask for the information" and think it is someone on the list, please report it to us.

POSTING

  1. To post to the group blinddogs@yahoogroups.com
  2. When signing posts include your name(first name is fine), your dog's name (especially the one that is blind), and the reason for their blindness (if you know). Our list is becoming a larger list--it becomes hard--if not impossible to keep all names, dogs and problems straight. This will aide all our members in doing just that.
  3. Please set your web browser to send messages in Plain Text. Sending messages in HTML will cause problems with some members whose browsers can't read/translate the code. What will happen--some members will receive blank messages, especially those receiving digest. If you need further help the admin group can assist you with most popular used browsers. The admin group can be reached by emailing blinddogs-admin@yahoogroups.com
  4. The way the list is setup if you hit reply the post gets addressed to the sender. Hitting reply to all addresses the post to both the sender and to the list address. To avoid sending double postings to the sender all you have to do is go in and delete sender's address.
  5. When replying to messages Please delete the portion of the message you are not responding to and include ONLY the portion that you are. Including or repeating the whole message again is not needed and also makes the digest Very hard to go through.

Other Information

  1. On the blinddogs section on egroups http://groups.yahoo.com/groups/blinddogs  there are different areas for use of all members: The FILES, DATABASE (chart set up to add info about your dog) chat room. You can also read past messages in the archive messages, just click on MESSAGES.
  2. For various links to sites on interest for owners of blind or visually impaired dogs visit the list's web site Owners of Blind Dogs
