The
Big Dog Parade
This is Cleo's costume for the parade.
Cleo walked with over 1500 dogs in Santa Barbara, CA at the Big Dog
Parade to help benefit homeless dogs. She also walked to bring
awareness that blind dogs love people and love a parade. Many people
had to ask if she was really blind. She was wearing her
shades.

This is Chulo, Cleo's brother. He is a
shelter dog that we adopted and was 20 pounds underweight. He only
weighs 43 pounds now. We named him Chulo which means Pretty Boy since
he was in such sorry shape when he came here. He is Cleo's best
friend and helper on walks. They walk on brace and he shows her the
curbs and watches out for her. My animals make me feel very blessed
at times.

This
is Cleo au natural, her left eye is a prosthesis and notice the
enlargement of the right eye. She will be visiting the eye vet this
coming Thursday to start procedures to have that eye removed.
Glaucoma
is a devastating disease for the pet owner. It happens over
night. The expense of treatment will blow out most peoples wallets.
We are fortunate we could afford to treat this. We also understand
that many can not. And any treatment from just the shots, or eye
removal is the most humane thing to do. Dogs going blind is not the
end of the world, they learn to function very well. The important
thing is to get treatment for glaucoma whatever one can afford. It is
extremely painful for the dog. And allowing any dog to suffer such
pain is wrong.
